Looking back on the good old WORLD HAUS FASHION days really does put a smile on my face. Those really were the happy careless day; whenever someone told me that back then I didn’t believe them, but now, looking back, I think they may have been right to some extent.

Honestly though, all days are good if you make them; or at least try to look at them with a glass half full kind of viewpoint. Those WHF days were great because all I worried about was acing my classes, getting a few hours in at work, and planning a great vacation! Now, what’s great about these days is that I’m married, we own our very own home, and we have great stable careers.

These photos were taken in 2013 on a warm summer day. I’m pretty sure it was a Sunday, or maybe it seems like that because now I relate to Sundays as days I don’t work on, and we were going for a walk after dinner.

Looking back on my entire outfit; hair, clothes, shoes; I feel content with myself. This is something I would definitely still wear, and actually do. I still own all of these pieces and do wear them. I haven’t worn this set together like this, but I have worn the peices separately. I think these photos have brought back the inspiration to wear this outfit again soon – maybe once we have some nicer weather though.

I’m not one to strictly follow trends, but once in a while I tend to have the urge to try one or two out. My most recent trend try-out was the CHROME NAIL trend.

It’s actually a funny story; a few weeks ago I was getting my nails done, and as I was sitting there at the end of the session in the dryer, I spotted the most pretty colour: CHROME PINK! Unfortunately, at this point I had just had a full new colour put on, so I wasn’t going to change it then, but I promised myself that the next time I got my nails done, I would get this colour.

So, the “next time” happened last week, and I finally got my CHROME NAILS! First, I was instructed to pick out the brightest pink possible from the Shellac colours available, next, came the chrome powder.

I’ve watched many videos of how this chrome powder is put on nails but trust me, it looks so much better in reality. It is a little bit messy though. Nonetheless, it’s amazing, and I love my nails!




List of the Week: List the things from your past and present that feel like blockades in the way of happiness.

Following from last weeks list, from listing the best choices you have made in your life so far, now it’s time to think about things that block you from achieving your happiness.

This week’s list may be harder or easier, dependng on how you want to define your happiness. I do believe that there can be two sides to this list, because we all want our happiness to depend on feelings and emotions, but sometimes, the materialistic items get in the way.

I can’t argue that a nice purchase doesn’t boost your mood a little bit, but in the long run, we need to find other “things” that can bring this happiness to us.

I’m currently reading this book “The Girl Before” which I picked up at Indigo a few weeks ago. I’m sure I’d be done reading it by now if it wasn’t for this crazy busy lifestyle I lead, but, so far so good! I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends from the way it’s looking so far.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the storyline is quite interesting, especially for fans of “The Girl on the Train” or “The Woman in Cabin 10” (which I will do a review on shortly as well because it was AMAZING).

Although I am only halfway through the book, I feel that I will fly through it now that I have a little bit more time on my hands.



List of the week: List the best choices you have made in your life so far.

Well this is definitely one of the more positive lists throughout this journal.  Reflecting and analyzing on the better choices throughout your life is definitely more fun.

Daily we make choices; both simple and harder ones. We definitely don’t have it in us to remember all of these choices, but we do remember the ones that meant something great than a lunch choice.

These are the choices you want to write down in this journal for your week five list! Reflect back on the choices that made you happy, that made others happy, pull from memories you’ve made.

The popular line of “beauty/fashion is pain” does in fact have greater meaning behind it. I was recently reading an article in the newspaper related to the five main causes of back pain which is caused by our clothing!

The article listed the following items are the top five fashion causes of back pain:

  1. Skinny jeans
  2. Oversized bags
  3. Coats with a large puffy hood
  4. High heel shoes
  5. Backless shoes, such as Mules

After looking at the list for a second, I realized I am victim to ALL of the items – although my jeans are not skin-tight, they do tend to be on the skinnier side, my coat has a huge puffy hood, heels are my best friend, and oversized bags are my daily game. The backless shoes point I have no connection to; yet.

It all makes sense though really, a few years ago I read an article about a woman who’s skinny jeans were so tight that she actually had to be cut out of them, as her legs started swelling and numbing – how scary is that!

So, putting things into perspective, this doesn’t mean that you should stop wearing the above five mentioned items altogether, maybe just not for long periods of times, or during times when your back already is sore?

From a fashion perspective, here are my alternate solutions for the above items, just to ease your soul while you wait for the slap of this news to disappear.

  1. Skinny jeans try a pair of straight leg or boyfriend distressed jeans – those holes will definitely give your leg some room to breathe, and not to mention, they are definitely in right now.
  1. Oversized bags have you seen all the adorable mini bags recently – it seems like every major brand is now creating smaller versions of their classic bags. Also, have a look back on my post about the Louis Vuitton backpack – maybe it’s time to jump onto the backpack trend after all? 
  1. Coats with a large puffy hood living in Canada, this may be a tough one to pass up; being cold in a light hood vs. being comfy in a big Eskimo-styled hood. Maybe, try wearing a hat; yes I know it causes hat hair and statics strands, but it may be your solution. I have recently been putting my hair into a french braid on my more laid back days at work and I’ve been able to pull off the hat to and from work.
  1. High heel shoes Fashion may be calling on kitten heels and block heels but we will never get away from the classic stiletto guaranteed. The block heel is still my favourite and most comfortable option; and since they are very much in style now, I’m sure you can find an option to suit your needs.
  1. Backless shoes, such as Mules I have no reasoning for this one really, Mules were a hit a few decades ago and it looks like they’ve mad a comeback, but I’m sure they will disappear soon enough for you to wear them without really causing any damage.



I know I should be writing about the healthy food choices that I make, but how can I be real, transparent, and truthful with you if that’s all I show. We are all human and we all need a little bit of unhealthy grease once in a while.

A few nights ago, my husband and I were having a very lazy and difficult evening of the “what to make for dinner” debate – this happens once in a while, but he’s tired of my trying to make soup night after night.

So, has anyone ever made home-made french fries? I had totally forgotten how much better they are than the store-bought frozen ones or the ones fast food/restaurant ones! So, you guessed it, we pulled out the sack of potatoes and started peeling. We cut them up into fairly thick slices, then once more to make a nice sized fry.

I agree, this is not the healthiest of options; though potatoes are considered a vegetable, and one of my favourite vegetables, the oil we fry them in is not so great. Instead of frying them, you could also put the slices into the over, sprinkle some spices and salt and let them bake their way to crispiness. But, when craving calls, you answer.

My grandmother taught me one of the best lessons in terms of eating;

“Eat E V E R Y T H I N G but in M O D E R A T I O N.

I have tried to follow that technique and I’d say it’s been working out so far. I am lactose intolerant to I don’t eat any dairy, and I am not a fan of seafood, but other than that, I am trying to be more open with my food to expand to more items.


Taking care of our bodies can be one of the toughest jobs we take on – sometimes we just don’t know what’s best, whats wrong, or how we can fix it. Browsing Women’s Health yesterday, I came across an article asking if Vitamin Deficiency can cause depression. I think I actually answered that question out loud.

I won’t get into too much detail of my personal experience with this topic, but, let’s say I can relate and can speak to this topic.

Reading the Women’s Health article made me realize that it’s a much larger issue than I had imagined, and that I was not the only one with this issue. Hearing that someone who is a professional chef and blogs about food and nutrition daily can have a vitamin deficiency, actually makes me feel better.

This makes me realize that we can eat all the fruits and veggies in the world, but truth is, our bodies may not absorb them as well as our brain would like us to.  This is nobody’s fault. I am one for reaching for a helping hand – we all need a little help once in a while.

Realistically, I realized that many people possibly suffer from vitamin deficiency, but, leading it to depression… now it’s all coming together. Now that I’ve gotten myself back on track, I am becoming more and more interested in informing others about this matter.

As mentioned by Lo Bosworth in her article in The Lo Down on this topic, the depression is not the only effect of B12 vitamin deficiency – it also follows with mood swings,  high highs and low lows, confusion, etc (you get the idea).

Like Lo, I too was diagnosed with severe deficiency of B12 – luckily, within three months of  a daily B12 vitamin supplement I was back to my normal self. But, the months prior to my diagnosis were a daily battle and adventure.

So, the moral of this post is; don’t be afraid and don’t hold back – listen to your gut and get a blood test if you think you may have a vitamin deficiency. Something as easy as a small daily pill can help you so much.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, F L O R A L everything, all the time! Strolling through Great Lakes Crossings Outlet mall last week, the obvious caught my eye; a major FLORAL display at the Coach store!

I think I fell in love with every single item they had on display – I tried on each of the bags, twice, maybe even three times, but could not make up my mind so sadly walked out with nothing. (I know, that never happens).

The thing is, I plan on being at the mall again next weekend, so I can give myself some extra time to think about which one I really want (HA, all of them!).

The next thing is that I realize it’s an outlet store, so I understand that I might not be able to find these bags in the online store, but truthfully, I can’t find them anywhere! I’m thinking they look like they belong in the Spring 2016 Collection, but I’m not sure.

Nonetheless, these prints are fabulous and I definitely plan on choosing one of the bags next time I am at the outlets!

If anyone can help me identify which collection they are from, and/or help me decide which one to buy, let me know!




List of the Week: List the things that get you out of your head

This week, its time to get ahead of your own brain – and we all know that our brains are fierce creatures that can alter and rule our lives. Listing the items that get you out of your head will help you to work through future things that may come up.

So far, I don’t think this is my favourite list to make, but it’s definitely a good excercise and I’m sure I’ll be pondering the list during the week often.
